Marie’s work is inspired by light and the nuanced interactions that are created as the sun lowers in the sky. It plays interestingly with elements of a still life setup. Abstract shapes and patterns emerge that give life and vitality to the ordinary and can often create a visual poetry.
A native of upstate New York, Marie received a BA in Art from Nazareth University. Now, as a long time Southern California resident, she has worked as an award-winning graphic designer, and a full-time professional artist. She is the recipient of numerous awards, and has been honored with: Eminent Pastelist, the highest commendation of the International Association of Pastel Societies; Signature -Distinguished Pastelist by the Pastel Society of the West Coast; Signature Distinction by the Pastel Society of America; and a Juried Artist member of The California Art Club.
