Mother Earth smiled at me this morning
as I walked through mist lifting from the pavement
and studied the cobwebs glistening with morning dew.
I closed my eyes and inhaled the scent
of the ground still moist from the overnight rain.
And I couldn’t help but smile right back at her
as I gave thanks for the beauty of a brand new day.
